Groupe SEB received the Circular Economy* Award at an official ceremony held as part of the Pollutec show (Lyon – end of November 2016).
The third edition of the event, organized by the Circular Economy Institute, rewarded exemplary initiatives in six categories, including the “Business in Transition” category, for which the Group was in the running. The Group is proud to receive the prize, which recognizes its commitment to the circular economy and, in particular, its reparability policy.
« The Group is a pioneer in the field, and its highly innovative reparability policy has since 2008 been informed by the leitmotif “Repair rather than throw away”. Because this approach benefits both the consumer (economic interest) and the environment (reduced resource consumption and waste), the Group did not wait for the vote on the law against obsolescence to campaign for the extension of the service life of its products.
Following a trial phase carried out with two brands in 2015, Groupe SEB announced in early September that it was extending its ten-year reparability policy internationally with the following brands: Seb, Rowenta, Moulinex, Calor, Krups and Tefal (for small electrical appliances and pressure cookers).
*Circular economy aims to decouple economic growth and the depletion of natural resources by creating innovative products, services, business models and public policies that create economic, social and environmental value.
