Together to face COVID-19

#staysafe

Support for healthcare professionals

In light of the COVID-19 crisis, Groupe SEB has quickly pulled together in a strong spirit of solidarity. The Group is showing commitment across the globe.

In France, the Group donated 30,000 FFP2 masks to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional health agency. On March 16, the masks were sent out to healthcare institutions and professionals who are fighting COVID-19. In the next few days, further delivery of roughly the same number of masks is scheduled for the Civil Hospices of Lyon.

Groupe SEB also donated several thousand electric kettles and coffee machines in an effort to equip the hospitals that belong to the Paris university hospital trust (Assistance publique – Hôpitaux de Paris [AP-HP]) and the Civil Hospices of Lyon. Several hundreds of products were also donated in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Mexico in order to support healthcare professionals.

Leveraging the Group’s expertise and manufacturing base

In its drive for real impact in the fight against the epidemic, Seb is committed to providing access to its expertise and manufacturing base while the Group’s production sites in France are closed.

projet MakAir, un respirateur artificiel dédié au traitement du COVID-19 conçu par le collectif Makers

Respirator production

The Group is a member of a consortium of industrial groups headed up by Air Liquide whose goal is to increase their production capacity, with a target of 10,000 respirators by mid-May.

Groupe SEB has also been involved in the MakAir project from its beginning. MakAir is an artificial ventilator specifically focused on treating COVID-19, developed by a French team of contributors, “Makers for life”, and supported by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission - CEA, and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. Clinical trials have received the authorization from the French Agency for the Safety of Health Products - ANSM.

A project supported by the CEA and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region

At the outset of this project are the Makers for Life, the Nantes University and the Nantes University Hospital. They worked closely with the CEA, who gave access to its innovation center, expert teams and technology platforms to develop the first prototypes. The CEA also secured supplier funding in order to get the project off the ground more quickly. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region then took on most of the funding, under the leadership of its president Laurent Wauquiez. The project also received funding from the Defense Innovation Agency (l’Agence de l’innovation de defense [AID]).

GROUPE SEB BRÉSIL SE MOBILISE

Groupe SEB Brazil takes action

Groupe SEB Brazil is fully mobilized to face the current health crisis and has chosen to participate in a concrete way in solidarity initiatives.

  • 10,500 masks and 1,000 air circulators were donated in 3 states in Brazil: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Recife, where our factories and office headquarter are located.
  • The INSPIRE Project will develop an innovative and low-cost respirator (Low Cost Open Lung Ventilator) for ICUs (Intensive Care Units) which is scheduled for mass production in May. It was created by researchers from the main University of Brazil, USP and will be pro-duced by partnership between companies. We took part in the conception and technical support of the project . More information on https://www.poli.usp.br/inspire
  • The Group has also started producing face shields to be used in critical hospitals in the North-east region of Brazil. Our factory in Recife has already produced 2,000 masks and will produce about 30,000 units at the end of June.
Rumilly en Haute-Savoie s’est ainsi lancée dans la fabrication de gel hydroalcoolique

Hand sanitizer production

The Group’s plant in Rumilly (Haute-Savoie, France) started producing alcohol-based hand sanitizer, with the support of the site’s health department. Destined at first for its employees still in operation, the production increased rapidly.
The quantities of hand sanitizer produced were used to supply the Group’s sites of Rumilly, Tournus and Selongey but also certain external parties, like the Covid-19 Screening Centre in Epagny-Metz-Tessy and the police brigade of Rumilly / Alby sur Chéran.

Commitment to being a corporate citizen

The Group has launched a number of corporate social initiatives alongside its manufacturing efforts.

0 000 masques pour enfants ont été donnés à plusieurs associations dans les villes où le Groupe est présent en Chine. Supor

Having a strong foothold in China, the Group started at the beginning of the epidemic, through its subsidiary Supor, to offer water and air purifiers to a charitable organization in Wuhan, pledging RMB 5 million (around €650,000). 80,000 children’s masks were also contributed to several organizations in the Group’s locations.

Tous confinés, Tous engagés

In France, true to its commitments in favor of the fight against exclusion, Groupe SEB joins the "Tous confinés, Tous engagés" (All confined, All committed) initiative.

MOBILIZING THE LARGEST NUMBER OF CITIZENS FOR SOLIDARITY

The initiative Tous confinés, Tous engagés supported by the Ministries of Labor and National Education and Youth, which already brings together more than 40 companies, aims to strengthen the citizen movement and support the solidarity initiatives of companies during this period of health crisis.

The objective of the movement "Tous confinés, Tous engagés"? Mobilize the immense potential for engagement of French companies and citizens.

Groupe SEB, by this approach, invites employees, who have the opportunity, to engage in two types of missions, as a volunteer:

  • Emergency missions defined by the government, such as distributing meals to the homeless, caring for caregivers' children, maintaining contact with isolated people, etc.
  • Missions achievable remotely for associations: support for operational activity, distance learning support, training...

Groupe SEB is mobilizing worldwide, donating products, producing alcohol-based hand sanitizer and respirators. As a company, Groupe SEB is committed to acting as a corporate citizen.

Groupe SEB Colombia's initiative

Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, many of the coffee street vendors in Colombia are facing difficulties to buy food and pay for shelter. Thanks to donations from Groupe SEB employees and other local parties, our foundation “Fundación IMUSA-SAMURAI: Taller de sueños”, was able to deliver 300 food bags to our ‘IMUSA’ coffee vendors and their families so they can face the quarantine safely.

Groupe SEB POLAND IS mobilized

With the support of Tefal Home&Cook teams, Groupe SEB Poland donated products like coffee machines, kettles, vacuum cleaners to equip 31 hospitals throughout the country.
