2024 Sales and results - Press Release
My name is Jinna, I'm 28 years old, I'm Colombian and I work for Groupe SEB as a Product Project Manager in the Graduate Program in Marketing. I have a master's degree in marketing studies and decision from NEOMA Business School in Paris and a master's degree in business administration from the Universidad del Rosario in Colombia. Before joining the Group, I have done various experiences in Colombia and France: I did an internship as a trade marketing assistant at Newell Brands, then I worked as a project manager in a startup, and finally, I did an apprenticeship in consumer research at L'Oréal.
I discovered the opportunity on my school's intranet. I was attracted by the advertisement indicating that they were looking for young people with the ambition to develop their potential and their career, to join this Graduate program, composed of one ùission in France and two abroad.
Firstly, because the Group inspired me: the values match my own, the products are focused on consumer expectations and represent the diversity of the world-renowned brand portfolio. Secondly, for the opportunity to give a boost to my professional career by discovering different dimensions of marketing, different cultures, different ways of working... Finally, the program's international rotations enable to discover the markets in which our products are sold and to understand each specificity, combined with a more operational approach.
After applying online in April, I had 2 interviews (one of 30 minutes and one of one hour) with the HR team, during which we talked in English and French. This helped me understand the challenges and expectations of the program. For the final stage, I took part in the assesment day in June, during which 3 or 4 candidates per programme were assessed during 3 tests: individual presentation, business case and individual interview with our future manager. A few days later, I was glad to hear that I had been selected for the Marketing Graduate Program! Regarding the integration, we benefited from a rich career path, including dedicated HR onboarding and a detailed training program to stimulate our hard and soft skills. We have created a strong cohesion between all the Graduate Program members of the 2023 promotion, and we meet up regularly to share our experiences! I'm currently on my first assignment, at the global headquarters. My future assignments are still being defined, but I'm confident that they'll be as challenging as my first one, and that they'll enable me to add real value!
The Groupe SEB Graduate Program is very enriching! It takes you out of your comfort zone and immerses you in three different environments, including two abroad. The missions are designed to combine the Group's different strategic needs with the aspirations of each graduate. We are well supported: we have a close follow-up from HR and professional development teams. We have a dedicated mentor, with lots of experience in the Group, with whom we can share our career aspirations and benefit from advice.
Next year, I'll be starting my two international rotations, and at the end of my career, I'd like to go back to France, to the headquarters, to take on a strategic role and leverage the skills I've acquired in product development, consumer knowledge and strategic marketing. One thing's for sure: these two years are key to my career plans.
I knew I was going to be supported, but the support I received from HR and my manager exceeded my expectations.
So far, I've developed my cross-functional and multicultural communication skills, because I work every day with different departments (logistics, design, development, sales, markets), and with people all over the world.
There are three key points: 1. Be yourself. Don't be afraid of daring, asking questions, to look different, because that's what will make you stand out from the others. 2. Do some introspection to better understand your motivations, desires and needs. Once this is clear, turn it into the goals you're going to achieve through the Graduate Program, and the strengths you'll bring to the program. 3. Enjoy! Before, during and after.
